Kanye West Request The Court To Legally Change His Name To Ye
Kanye West does not want to be known as Kanye West anymore.
According to TMZ, the rapper has filed paperwork to legally change his name from Kanye Omari West to just “Ye,” his longtime nickname. He’s petitioning a Los Angeles court to make it official by signing off on the petition.
Kanye wants to drop the “West” from his name altogether, which is surprising given his love for his family. Meanwhile, his ex-wife Kim Karadashian is still using “West” in her surname.
He hinted at the name change back in September 2018. “the being formally known as Kanye West,” he tweeted. “I am YE.”

Kanye isn’t the first rapper to rename himself. Diddy legally changed his middle name to “Love” earlier this year.
In the midst of his rekindled feud with Drake, Ye is set to host a third listening party for his album DONDA on Thursday evening at Chicago’s Soldier Field. For the event, he has built a replica of his childhood home in the middle of the stadium.
