Cardi B to Star in Upcoming Comedy Film “Assisted Living”
Cardi B is heading to the big screen again.
In Paramount’s upcoming comedy, Assisted Living, the Bronx rapper has landed her first starring film role.
Assisted Living is characterized as a raucous comedy with a tremendous heart, according to Variety, drawing comparisons to films such as Tootsie, Sister Act, and Mrs. Doubtfire.
Cardi B plays Amber, a small-time crook who, when a heist goes wrong, finds herself way over her head.
She fails to find a hideout while on the run from the police and her former crew, so she disguises herself as an older woman and hides out in the location she feels no one can find her, the nursing home of her estranged grandmother.
After a successful bidding war in the spring of 2019, Assisted Living was sold to Paramount. The film is produced by Temple Hill and Stephen Love, based on an original spec script from “This Is Us” writer Kay Oyegun.
In the 2019 stripper crime thriller Hustlers, which grossed over $ 150 million at the box office, Cardi B made her feature film debut opposite Jennifer Lopez, Constance Wu, and Keke Palmer. In F9, the upcoming installment in the Fast & Furious franchise, scheduled for release in May, she is also expected to appear.
